Stay cozy and still conserve energy this winter at home with these 3 almost too easy tips:
1- Turn down your water heater. Even in the coldest weather, there’s no reason to waste energy and to scald yourself with a 140-degree shower.
2- Turn your ceiling fan in reverse. A clockwise rotation circulates warm air near the ceiling back down to your living space.
3- Turn down your thermostat and put on a big sweater instead.
I never thought of reversing the fan! This is great!!!
I never thought about turning down the water heater… I hate hot showers anyway.
I really like the Content of your Blog on Going Green. I am an engineer who works with corporations to help them go green by converting to solar and wind energy. I know what it takes to create an alternative energy plan that works, and I know how to implement those plans. As an engineer who works in the realm of alternative energy, there is one thing that often surprises me.The range of quality of information on how to go green is simply astounding. At least once a week, someone will ask me how they can learn how to convert their home, and answering that question can be difficult.
I have some more options that I have reviewed:
Great tips. I just wanted to add that adjusting the thermostat is a good idea in the Summer as well as Winter.
The best thing to do is get a programmable thermostat so you don’t have to remember to do it manually. I’ve got a review of a really nice programmable thermostat on my blog. Take a look and let me know what you think – http://greenergreener.com/honeywell-rth7600d-best-programmable-thermostat-review/
